Here is a brief report of my time in Rome.
I always enjoy being in Rome. It’s always such a relaxing time with the opportunity to mingle with locals and have some sensational meals.
I always take my time in Rome unlike in NYC. I enjoy staying near Piazza della Repubblica (around Termini Station) or in Trastevere. It really depends on my mood and why I’m there. Whether for business or pleasure. I have a friend that is a furniture designer with a studio in Vatican City but living in Trastevere. It’s easy to meet up and hang out when I stay in Trastevere so I normally stay here.
I’ve never purchased a travelers guide while in Rome. Being from NYC I don’t drive much because we walk everywhere so I keep in stride and walk around as much as possible in Rome too. At night I tend to go for the night bus.
During the day when weather permits. I enjoy walking to Villa Borghese. (It’s the largest public park in Rome). I’m never in a rush and it normally takes me about 2 hours to walk there from Trastevere. It’s a must see. “MUST”
I won’t give everything away about what Rome has to offer because you have to see it for yourself and experience it with the locals. It’s such a lovely place and you will have such a lovely time.
You absolutely must visit: Pizzeria ai Marmi, Viale di Trastevere, 53. It’s a pizza restaurant known as “the morgue” due to the the marble covered tables inside. You should get there early to get a seat because there is normally a wait and it’s possibly the best pizza in the world. It’s very affordable and filled with locals. Very crowded but relaxed atmosphere.Tell them “Hurmoso” sent you.
